BRAIN GYM® 101

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Participants receive extensive training in Educational Kinesiology,  the science of body movement as it relates to brain function. The  specific techniques in this program bring about rapid gains in  concentration, memory, physical coordination, reading, writing, and  listening.

  • Participants will be able to teach the 26 Brain Gym movements  used for enhancement of balance, alignment, and coordination – the  physical skills of learning and performance.
  • Participants will master the design and implementation of Action  Goals, which facilitate improved visual, auditory, and kinesthetic  integration through a five-step learning model.
  • Participants will be able to direct a client or student through  the Dennison Laterality Repatterning procedure, an intensive training  across the lateral midline for specific improved function in the  full-sensory midfield.
  • At the conclusion of the program, the learner will be able to  determine and utilize appropriate Brain Gym techniques (in an individual  therapy or group setting) which will enhance the performance of their  clients/students in a wide variety of challenges.

Instructional methods: Lecture; discussion; live demonstration; reading of text in Brain Gym 101, Balance for Daily Life, Brain Gym Teacher’s Edition,  both by Dennison and Dennison, and an archive of Brain Gym periodicals;  practicals (in which participants practice in small groups with other  participants); and creating a written plan for implementation of this  new information.

Evaluation procedures: Observation of performance of learners during  practicals, followed by evaluative feedback and processing;  question-&-answer sessions; and each participant’s presentations to  the group of his/her written and illustrated summaries of information  and plans for implementation.
